| RICHARD HYSKA
Richard Hyska is a long time Hamtramck resident involved in photography, writing, teaching and community activism. Recently retired from 27 years of teaching in college prep schools, he is now keeping a promise to himself to return to his photography to update his 30 year portfolio and to seek a broader audience for his work.
His photography and writing have been published locally and he has exhibited in venues such as the Hamtramck Library, where he had a one-man show on Hamtramck and the Scarab Club, where he was awarded a top prize. The Detroit News once ran a full page of Richard’s Hamtramck photos along with his Hamtramck poem. His unique photos of Ireland have sold well. As a professional photographer in the seventies, he was awarded third place in the Top Ten Photographers of Michigan. Richard has taught photography at the high school and community level and currently teaches writing part-time at Davenport University.
