<title>Hamtramck Disneyland Episode One</title>
<itunes:author>Carrie Williams</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>A 360 QTVR of the famous Hamtramck Disneyland.</itunes:subtitle>
<description>Our first episode for Hatch is from Carrie Williams. This is the first of a series of three dealing with the legendary Hamtramck Disneyland art installation created by Dmytro Szylak, a Ukrainian immigrant who moved to Hamtramck following WWII in 1949. This installation is at times both the most well-known and least known instances of public art in Hamtramck, Michigan. People come from all over the world to see it, but even many of the city's residents themselves are unaware of it's existance.

From my conversations with Dmytro I learned that he began construction of this in 1990 at the ripe age of 70. It's worth noting that he is now eighty-six and still going! I spent a good part of an evening getting to know Dmytro, and also shooting the following panos. Episode one is a portrait of Dmytro in his backyard which is overgrown with 'Disneyland.'

This is a podcast of the video kind, and more specifically a QTVR. It can be viewed in iTunes, or fullscreen in Quicktime player (recommended).</description>

<title>Hamtramck Disneyland, Episode Two</title>
<itunes:author>Carrie Williams</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>Another 360 QTVR of the famous Hamtramck Disneyland.</itunes:subtitle>
<description>Our second QTVR epi from Carrie Williams. This is perhaps the most common way that the Hamtramck Disneyland is viewed: from the alley between Klinger and Sobieski streets north of Caniff. Some of us may be looking for it, others taking a shortcut through the alley. Once you're in the vicinity it's pretty hard to miss! As you approach the site you'll notice two things in particular with one being a hand painted sign reading "Welcome to Art Show," and another clipboard asking for "Visitor Opinion."

Should you be visiting Hamtramck Disneyland during decent hours, I highly recommend ringing the bell and visiting with Dmytro himself. He is more than happy to give you a tour and possibly turn on the lights (a few sections at a time so not to blow a fuse). He will also likely show you the scores of photographs sent to him from visitors from around the world, as well as the articles that have been written about him. If you're looking for an flat in Hamtramck, do know that he does own the residence next door as well and may be looking for a new tenant...

<title>Hamtramck Disneyland, Episode Three</title>
<itunes:author>Carrie Williams</itunes:author>
<itunes:subtitle>The final QTVR in a series on the Hamtramck Disneyland.</itunes:subtitle>
<description>Our third and final episode on Hamtramck Disneyland from Carrie Williams. One thing you may not realize in viewing photos of Hamtramck Disneyland, is that it is entirely wind-activated and far from randomly assembled. In fact, much of it comprises of mechanical moving parts! In this particular scene Dmytro had just demonstrated to me the windmill, which you can find on the left of Dmytro and the Concorde. The axis rotates, the blades rotate, and in doing so activates tiny toy workers attached to the windmill to move to their task. In effect it is one giant sized toy. Despite lending itself to the wind, Hamtramck Disneyland has survived several major storms including a tornado that ripped through Hamtramck in 1997.
