One Night Only
Saturday, June 24, 2017
Millennial Musings is a one night, pop-up exhibtion featuring the works of Detroit-based artists, Caroline Del Giudice and Elise M. Martin.
Caroline Del Giudice makes sculptures, primarily out of steel. Her series “Millennial Musings” is an observation of her generation’s means of communication, a questioning into our reactions and responses, and importantly, an honest view into her own thoughts and doubts.
Elise Martin works in a variety of mediums, including painting, printmaking, sculpture and video- with a focus on empathy and shared human experiences. Because fantasy allows us to view the world through abstract eyes and new frames of reference, she adds a heavy dose of make-believe to everything she creates. By manipulating conventional visual and literary archetypes to tell contemporary narratives, her work plays with familiar modes of expression to engage viewers in an unexpected way.
Auditory Communion - Ash Griskie Performance
8 PM - 8:45 PM
Ash Griskie is a Detroit based multimedia artist who creates work exploring and speaking about the malleability of the mind and how this relates to humanity on both a cultural and personal level. Drawing influence from modern urban-shamen as well as historical, spiritual, and anthropological texts Ash hopes to reveal the divine in everyone – or at least those willing to look.
Their ever-evolving performance, Communion, explores a combination of traditional and contemporary methods used to interact with the divine, drawing the audience into a meditative -and possibly sublime - space. This work will appear in it's latest iteration alongside Millennial Musings- Caroline Del Giudice and Elise Marie Martin in the Jail Cell in Hatch on Saturday, June 24th 2017.
