Peering Through Strata: Cathy Jacobs and Luzhen Qiu

Hatch presents the dynamic, abstract paintings of Luzhen Qiu and the structured 3-dimensional screen paintings of Cathy Jacobs. These two artists attempt to organize, hold still, and transcend the turbulent world that surrounds them. Each creates layers for viewers to peer through, finding interconnections.

Qiu and Jacobs both graduated from Wayne State University in the 1990's, but only met a few years ago, finding they shared much more than a school history. Their artworks share an ethereal quality with underlying personal anxieties and hope.

This show will not have an opening reception. October 3 to October 31. Hatch is open Thursdays, 6 to 9 pm and Saturdays, noon to 6 pm. Free to visit, but must wear an effective mask.
