Amy Sacka is a documentary photographer based in Detroit, who is passionate about celebrating the beauty of people and culture, particularly in Detroit and the Midwest. Her work has been featured in National Geographic, National Geographic Traveler, TOPIC, BuzzFeed, the Guardian, LensCulture, PDN, Dodho, Musee Magazine, Detroit Free Press, The Detroit News and PBS World News Hour. She is a National Geographic Explorer, a two-time National Geographic grantee and a Top 50 Critical Mass photographer.

This is her first solo show in the area. Her portraits from the Michigan State Fair taken last year celebrate the diversity and uniqueness of Michiganders. In addition, she will be showing people of summer, from times that now feel far away.

Despite the pandemic, we are planning on having a gallery show of Amy Sacka's photographs and Linda Allen's installation in The Jail Cell. No reservations necessary, but masks are required, and we are limiting the number of visitors at a given time. Check our Facebook event page to see if anything changes between now and July 11th.

Instead of having an opening reception, Hatch will be open on July 11th from noon to 9pm. We will then be open on Thursday evenings, 6 to 9pm, and Saturdays, noon to 6pm. If you are immunocompromised, we recommend you come at noon on Saturdays or on Thursdays.
